The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Principal Product Software Engineer for the ABC Core Content Technologies engineering team in California. You will set technical direction for large-scale content platforms and lead critical backend initiatives, balancing speed and architectural soundness.

You will split time between hands-on coding, design, and architecture, mentoring engineers, and guiding multiple teams toward cohesive, scalable solutions that power Disney's brands—Disney+, ESPN+, ABC

Qualifications

• 10+ years of building large-scale, highly available services.
• Expert in backend architectures spanning multiple teams.
• Strong programming skills in Java and OO languages.
• Experience with caching and distributed systems.
• Proficient in CI/CD and Agile/Scrum practices.
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and delivery of complex backend services.
• Decompose architectures into independently runnable components.
• Partner with product, PM, ops to inform technical strategy.
• Set engineering standards and drive best practices.
• Lead design reviews and mentor engineers across teams.
• Champion AI-assisted development tools and productivity gains.
