Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking a Nurse Practitioner - Primary Care to deliver high-quality medical services in a correctional setting. The role reports to the facility physician and focuses on comprehensive primary care for inmates in a structured hospital-like environment.

The NP will perform evaluations, manage acute and chronic conditions, order tests, and participate in emergency response, while maintaining detailed medical records and upholding privacy regulations.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current and unrestricted NP license in the facility state.
• Experience in providing primary care or relevant experience in correctional or underserved populations is preferred.
• Strong assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a challenging and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary healthcare services to inmates/residents.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans; prescribe medications and therapies.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and vaccinations.
• Monitor and manage chronic diseases and coordinate with specialists as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure patient confidentiality.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team and participate in quality improvement.
