Job summary

City of Baltimore is seeking a Press Secretary (NCS) for the Mayor’s Office of Communications. The role leads media relations, drafts press materials, and acts as the on-the-record spokesperson for Mayor Scott.

Requires strong writing and ability to respond quickly to media inquiries. Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will manage press conferences, monitor coverage, and collaborate with city agencies to advance City priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, political science, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in media relations or public affairs.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media.
• Prepare press releases, talking points, and media kits.
• Serve as the day-to-day media contact for the city.
• Coordinate press conferences and media events with leadership.
• Assist in crisis communications and rapid response.
