Job summary

Graphic Packaging International in Staunton, VA is seeking a Press Operator for our Printing department. The role leads press start-up, shut-down and daily procedures, ensuring safe, efficient and accurate operation.

Primary duties include setting up press, following production schedules, quality checks and maintaining logs. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of printing processes and adherence to safety guidelines.

• Proficient in reading, writing and speaking to receive and give directions.
• Perform mathematical functions as related to press operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve printing problems.
• Enhanced listening skills and ability to follow directions.
• Safely perform all tasks on and around press equipment.
• Knowledge of printing processes.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Understands and operates Color Management System.
• Understands and operates Quality Management System.
• Understands and operates Press Console Functions.
• Understands all technical functions of printing press.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for a wide variety of production related tasks.
• Verifies and follows production schedules, job specifications and instructions.
• Responsible for make-ready, set up and operation of press.
• Follows quality control procedures to obtain high quality and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Monitors all printing and press related processes and makes necessary adjustments.
• Performs basic troubleshooting.
• Completes job logs, production and quality paperwork.
• Responsible for all cleaning, preventative maintenance of presses.
• Provides direction, training, guidance to crew members.
• Follows all company safety requirements.
• Comply with all company rules and regulations.
• Performs other duties as required to achieve the overall goals and objectives of the company.
