Job summary

Avec Community Action seeks a dedicated Teacher to plan, prepare, and implement engaging activities for an assigned classroom in a center-based program. You will supervise staff, coordinate home visits, and lead cultural awareness initiatives while partnering with families.

Strong background in early childhood education, supervisory experience, and compliance with Head Start standards is required. The role supports nutrition, safety, and learning in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience teaching young children in a center-based program/home day care.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Planning for individual needs.
• Establishing and maintaining safe, healthy learning environments.
• Conducting developmental screenings.

Responsibilities

• Plans, prepares, and implements classroom activities and field trips; writes daily plan and posts in the classroom.
• Supervises staff and volunteers; trains and evaluates as needed.
• Facilitates parent engagement through conferences and meetings.
• Coordinates and attends home visits.
• Plans cultural awareness activities at least monthly.
• Assists with nutritious meals; procures supplies as needed.
• Ensures program reports and COR assessments are completed.
