Job summary

The Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) in Cambridge seeks a Lead Teacher to guide staff in designing a play-based curriculum that supports children's development while meeting EEC, NAEYC, QRIS standards.

Under the direction of the Director/Teacher, you will coordinate curriculum across sessions, plan field trips, arrange spaces, document learning, and engage families, while ensuring safety and equity in education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three years’ experience as a teacher with curriculum development and staff supervision.
  • Good writing and computer skills.
  • Familiar with EEC, QRIS, and NAEYC standards, guidelines, and other requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead staff in the design of a play-based curriculum that enhances the social, physical, emotional, and intellectual development of children.
  • Ensure that curriculum meets EEC, NAEYC, QRIS, and DHSP curriculum standards and guidelines.
  • Meet weekly with Teachers to support their planning, documentation, and reflection; supervise implementation of planned curriculum.
  • Coordinate curriculum between morning and afternoon programming and document children’s learning.
  • Plan and coordinate safe and developmentally appropriate field trips.
  • Design and arrange classroom space to promote independence while meeting EEC regulations and DHSP goals.
  • Establish clear behavioral expectations and model nurturing, responsive care.
  • Support staff in managing individual needs and challenging behavior with positive interventions.
  • Coordinate attendance at IEP meetings and follow through with written goals.
