Principle Function: The Preschool Teacher will provide a positive learning environment in the classroom for each student, giving each child a Christian education with an academic focus in preparation for kindergarten. The teacher will engage parents to participate in their child’s preschool experience through classroom volunteering, chaperoning field experiences, fundraising, etc. The preschool team will fully reflect the heart and vision of Life Family Church.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred), or 5 years of experience teaching in an Early Childhood Education classroom.
- Belief in and compliance with Life Family Church’s Articles of Faith and church membership.
- Current clearances (3) for classroom & child interaction required. Clearances must be renewed every 36 months.
Required Personal & Professional Traits: A Preschool Teacher should exhibit the following traits:
- A Christian whose moral character models the Christian lifestyle for children.
- Called by God and anointed to specifically serve in children’s ministry.
- Highly creative and ability to communicate effectively in speaking, writing, and through the use of current technology & on-line sources.
- Emotionally stable and able to handle stressful situations with grace, peace, tact & bearing.
- Concerned about and proactive with the families of Life Family Preschool.
- Self-Motivated, joyful, and enthusiastic in both word and deed.
- Teachable and sensitive to God’s leadership.
- Function as a team player and possess a servant’s attitude.
- Demonstrates the spirit-filled life personally and in ministry.
- Ability to work with the Life Family Preschool Overseer and Preschool Director to coordinate advertising, possible Preschool enrollment opportunities, and other opportunities that may arise in the venue.
Specific List of Responsibilities:
Teaching and Lesson Planning:
- Complete weekly lesson plans and teach accordingly.
- Incorporate daily prayer, worship, and devotional time into lesson planning.
- Plan daily activities using approved curriculum materials and approved teaching formats (using thematic units, alphabet activities, devotional materials, etc.)
- Prepare the classroom before students arrive and clean up before leaving for the day.
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment for all students.
- Use approved techniques to manage students in a positive way.
Supplies:
- Work with the Preschool Director to stay within supply budget.
- Order/purchase classroom supplies/materials as needed with appropriate credit card.
- Submit all Bill Spend and Expense transactions with receipt via online or through app within 3 days of purchase.
Student Records:
- Create and maintain individual student portfolios and student records.
- Keep all student records confidential.
- Conduct mid-year and end-of-year student assessments.
- Write student progress reports two times per year (January/May). Discuss with parents as needed.
Parent Engagement and Communication via the Class Dojo App:
- Create and maintain a positive relationship with parents.
- Maintain an open door communication with parents via the Class Dojo app.
- Send weekly/monthly updates to parents (including pictures) to parents via the Class Dojo app of what students are learning.
- Communicate with parents and send reminders about all upcoming activities and events via the Class Dojo app. (Picture Day, Field Trips, Events, etc.)
- Produce a monthly newsletter for parents.
- Communicate with parents to maintain a snack signup calendar.
- Communicate with parents to send a special snack to celebrate student birthdays.
- Communicate with parents and send reminders about upcoming holiday breaks and scheduled days off.
Events and Planning
- Assist the Preschool Director to organize and plan student field experiences (field trips).
- Assist and coordinate with the Preschool Director and Musical Director to organize and plan student programs (Christmas/Graduation).
- Assist the Preschool Director to organize and plan Dad’s Event and Mom’s Event (Donuts with Dad & Muffins with Mom)
- Assist the Preschool Director to organize and plan all student fundraising.
Other Staff and Facilities:
- Assist the Ministry Overseer and Preschool Director with the development and implementation of the vision of Life Family Church Preschool.
- Assist and openly confer with the Preschool Director on any problems that arise.
- Submit and convey any time-off requests to the Preschool Director in a timely fashion.
- Work with and communicate to the Teacher’s Aide any assistance needed for day-to-day activities.
- Submit Campus Care & IT/Network Requests for any maintenance or IT issues that may arise.
- Maintain a clean working environment by doing basic cleanup of classroom and supplies used throughout the day. (toys & supplies put away, wipe tables, clean paint supplies, sweep crumbs & sensory area, etc.)
