Job summary

Young Innovators Academy - Winter Garden is seeking a Lead Preschool Teacher to foster a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children.

You will plan STEM and literacy activities, observe progress, communicate with parents, and ensure safety while upholding accreditation standards and the school's mission.

Qualifications

  • Create and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
  • Plan STEM and literacy activities and concepts.
  • Assess and observe children's progress daily.
  • Adjust learning goals for each child as needed.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with co-teacher and staff members.
  • Communicate with teachers, staff and parents professionally.
  • Maintain classroom newsletters and documentation.
  • Create and maintain children’s portfolios.
  • Be familiar with Early Childhood theories (Piaget, Vygotsky, Montessori, etc.).
  • Participate in at least 25 hours of professional development per year.

Job description

As a Lead Preschool Teacher, you will foster a nurturing environment that is rich in developmentally appropriate activities that will encourage children's curiosity and learning. We care for the whole child as an individual including their social -- emotional, cognitive, and developmental needs.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • CDA
  • 1-year experience working as lead teacher in a licensed childcare facility
  • Meets state childcare education requirements
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice (DAP)
  • Familiar with NAEYC standards
  • Familiar with continuity of care
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Able to maintain professional composure in stressful situations
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Familiar with accreditation process -- preferred
  • College level coursework, Associate's or Bachelor's degree - preferred
  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must pass Level 2 background screening
  • VPK certified if applicable
  • The following childcare training courses must be completed within specified timeframes-
  • Florida early learning and developmental standards- Birth to kindergarten (2017) Online -- upon hire
  • Florida early learning and developmental standards- Birth to kindergarten (2017) Instructor-Led - within 180 days of employment
  • Special Needs Appropriate Practices -- within 90 days of employment
  • CPR and First Aid -- within 90 days of employment
  • Other training requirements identified by leadership team
  • May perform other duties assigned.
