Job summary

J and L Family Daycare in Chicago, IL is seeking a passionate Lead Preschool Teacher to join our growing team. This role focuses on planning age-appropriate curriculum, creating a safe and nurturing classroom, and guiding assistant teachers in a warm, family-centered environment where every child is valued.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred), 1–2 years of preschool/daycare experience, CPR/First Aid certification, and a commitment to licensing and safety

Qualifications

• Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a licensed preschool or daycare setting.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Must meet Illinois DCFS background check and licensing requirements.
• Strong communication, patience, and classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement age-appropriate, developmentally focused curriculum for preschool-aged children.
• Create a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment that supports early childhood development.
• Supervise and guide assistant teachers and classroom aides.
• Observe and document children's progress, behaviors, and milestones.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding child development and daily activities.
• Maintain compliance with Illinois childcare licensing regulations and health and safety standards.
• Organize and lead circle time, structured play, arts and crafts, and other early learning activities.
