Job summary

MicroVision in Orlando, FL is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer - Precision Mechanical Design to own mechanical designs from concept through release for LiDAR sensor systems.

You will translate system requirements into robust mechanical architecture, manage BOMs in Arena PLM, perform tolerances, drive DTC and VE, and collaborate with manufacturing, electrical, optical, and systems teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10–15+ years in mechanical engineering for precision hardware.
• Experience owning mechanical designs from concept through release.
• Experience designing precision components for molding and casting processes (injection molding, die casting, MIM).
• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration across mechanical, electrical, optical, and systems teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and own precision mechanical solutions for electro‑optical sensor systems.
• Translate system requirements into robust mechanical architecture and detailed designs.
• Lead design reviews and drive Design‑to‑Cost and Value Engineering initiatives.
• Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, and GD&T for robust designs.
• Manage BOMs, configuration control, and ECO/ECR processes in Arena PLM.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, program management, and suppliers to ensure interface alignment.
