Job summary

Decatur Scholars Academy is seeking an energetic Pre-K Teacher for a 4-year-old classroom. The role focuses on safe, nurturing learning that prepares children for kindergarten through developmentally appropriate instruction and collaborative teamwork.

The ideal candidate supports academic, social, emotional, and physical development, maintains a positive classroom culture, and communicates regularly with families. Licensing standards are expected to be met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
• Previous experience teaching Pre-K or preschool-aged children preferred.
• Knowledge of child development and positive classroom management.
• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• Must meet Georgia Bright from the Start employment requirements.
• CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with GELDS.
• Prepare students for kindergarten through hands-on learning in literacy, math, science, social studies, and social-emotional development.
• Maintain a structured, organized, and positive classroom environment.
• Provide active supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
• Observe, assess, and document each child's developmental progress.
• Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and classroom records.
• Complete accident, incident, and behavior reports in accordance with school policies.
• Build positive relationships and communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.
• Collaborate with administrators and fellow teachers to support student success and a positive school culture.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
• Follow all Decatur Scholars Academy policies and Georgia Bright from the Start regulations.
