Job summary

Alpha in Manhattan, New York City, or Chicago, Illinois, seeks a Preschool Head Teacher to lead a Pre-K classroom on-site. You will design rich, play-based experiences that foster early literacy, numeracy, self-regulation, and social development, creating an emotionally safe learning environment.

This full-time role requires 2+ years with 3–5-year-olds, on-site work, and collaboration with families to support each child's growth.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher or U.S. teaching license or certification.
• At least 2 years of experience with children ages 3-5 in a structured, play-based classroom.
• Experience documenting developmental milestones using Teaching Strategies GOLD, ASQ, HighScope COR, etc.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design joyful, sensory-rich learning experiences that build early literacy, numeracy, self-regulation, and social development.
• Create a classroom where every child feels emotionally safe, deeply known, and excited to come to school every day.
• Observe children's development in real time, document meaningful progress, and personalize learning.
• Adjust activities around each child's interests and developmental needs to help every learner progress.
• Partner closely with families to share growth, celebrate milestones, and support development beyond the classroom.
