Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston at Huntington YMCA is seeking a Pre-Kindergarten teacher who will lead a developmental, cue-based program aligned with MA guidelines. Under the Site Director, you will plan curriculum, record-keeping, and family communication to create a warm, safe, and engaging learning environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and completion of First Aid/CPR within six months. Strong teamwork, leadership, and commitment to youth development are essential, with ongoing branch

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Lead Teacher qualification.
• First Aid and CPR certification within the first 6 months of employment.
• Excellent skills in working with families, conflict resolution, and community relations.

Responsibilities

• Keeps safety of children as a first priority; emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with children, families, and staff.
• Uses positive methods of behavior guidance and ensures colleagues use similar strategies.
• Sets a professional, efficient tone while maintaining a nurturing classroom environment.
• Supervises children to ensure safety and smooth transitions.
• Collaborates with Site Director on daily duties and maintains an engaging classroom atmosphere.
• Participates in ongoing training and communicates with families; maintains up-to-date classroom administration.
• Introduces activities that engage the group with individualized instruction as needed.
• Attends staff meetings and regional events; supports branch activities.
• Demonstrates reliability through excellent attendance and punctuality.
