Job summary

V Group Inc. seeks an Expert PowerBuilder Software Developer for the State of New York ITS/HCR portfolio in Albany, NY.

This 30-month contract role leads development for mission‑critical PowerBuilder applications built on the PFC framework with an Oracle backend, in a large, mature codebase requiring minimal onboarding and no production disruption. The successful candidate will design, develop, test, and implement enhancements, diagnose production issues, document architecture and deployment

Qualifications

• PowerBuilder expertise with IDE to design, maintain, and modernize enterprise applications.
• Experience extending PFC and building with DataWindows and PowerScript.
• Strong Oracle PL/SQL development including procedures and packages.
• Lead/developer for production support in large, mature codebases.
• Ability to work independently with minimal onboarding.
• Ability to document builds and deployment procedures.
• Must support application modernization while keeping production stable.
• Must complete ITS security agreements and fingerprint background check.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead developer for HCR's PowerBuilder apps, daily development, maintenance, and support.
• Design, develop, test, and implement enhancements for PFC-based apps, including DataWindows and PowerScript.
• Develop and maintain Oracle DB components and PL/SQL used by PowerBuilder.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues across app and database layers; primary escalation point.
• Analyze business processes with program staff and translate into changes.
• Document applications, code structure, and deployment procedures.
• Support modernization while maintaining production stability.
• Transfer knowledge to designated State staff during engagement.
