Job summary

Heron Power Inc. is seeking a Power Electronics Test & Validation Engineer to own application testing of the SST platform across AI data centers, utility-scale BESS, and PV plants.

You will bring up hardware, write scripts to drive test equipment, and debug performance against application needs, collaborating with Systems Integration, SW/FW teams, and lab staff. You will build Python test automation, safely operate high-power test setups, and contribute to field deployments at pilot sites, with

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience in power electronics, energy storage, EV, grid or hardware environments.
• Strong DC circuit fundamentals: resonances, parasitics, slew rates, inductive spikes.
• Scripting and test-automation skills to drive instruments and log data.
• Knowledge of power conversion and battery systems: inverters, BMS, DC pre-charge, protection.
• Lab instrumentation and comms protocols such as CAN and Modbus TCP.
• Scrappy mindset: able to deliver amid challenges.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end application testing of a high C-rate battery pack with SST.
• Support SST and utility-scale BESS integration testing at pilot sites.
• Support integration testing with DAS, SCADA and EMS systems.
• Own first pilot deployments: review field performance and drive product improvements.
• Write and maintain Python-based test automation scripts.
• Operate power converters, chillers, protection gear and set up data acquisition for high-power tests.
