Job summary

Heron Power in San Francisco is hiring a hands-on Applications Test Lead for its solid state transformer platform. You will own end-to-end testing of high C-rate battery packs with SST, validating ripple, slew rates, and protection schemes while coordinating with Systems Integration and SW/FW teams.

You will write Python-based test automation to drive lab equipment, run power-converter tests, and log results, turning field feedback into product improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in power electronics/hardware environment.
• Strong DC fundamentals: resonances, parasitics and inductive spikes.
• Scripting and test automation to drive instruments and log data.
• Experience with inverters/battery systems, BMS and pre-charge.
• Comfort with lab instrumentation and comms protocols (CAN, Modbus TCP).
• Hands-on, initiative-driven mindset.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end application testing of a high C-rate battery pack with SST.
• Support SST and utility-scale BESS integration testing at pilot sites.
• Integrate SST with DAS, SCADA and EMS systems.
• Lead first pilot deployments and drive field-to-product improvements.
• Develop Python-based test automation to command power converters and log data.
• Set up cabling, instrumentation and data acquisition for high-power tests.
