Job summary

City of Solon is seeking Lead Pool Attendants for its Solon Community Center. Part-time and seasonal roles require staffing across all pool hours, with duties focused on safety, supervision, and pool maintenance.

Compensation starts at a rate of $21.2916/hour for qualifying candidates and includes required lifeguard certifications. Responsibilities include leading staff, teaching basic swimming, and ensuring a clean, hazard-free pool area; training is provided if needed, with certifications

Qualifications

• Must have ARC Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED certifications.
• Capable of performing First Aid and CPR, and assisting in emergencies.
• Able to communicate rules and supervise staff in a pool environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor safety and well-being of patrons in Solon Aquatic Facilities.
• Lead and coordinate staff to run the Aquatics area smoothly.
• Maintain a safe environment by daily cleaning of the pool area.
• Recognize hazards, respond to emergencies, and perform rescue procedures.
• Teach patrons to swim and assist with basic water chemistry understanding.

Employment Opportunities

The City of Solon Recreation Department has openings for part-time and seasonal Lead Pool Attendants at the Solon Community Center. Part-time positions work up to 28 hours/week. This position offers a starting rate of $21.2916/hour.

The first priority of a Lead Pool Attendant is to monitor the safety and well-being of patrons visiting the Solon Aquatic Facilities. They must be able to communicate directions, rules, regulations, etc. to patrons. Lead Pool Attendants must be able to lead and coordinate staff members to properly run the Aquatics area. In addition, the employee must maintain a safe environment by cleaning the pool area daily. Lead Pool Attendants need to have the ability to recognize and remove any safety hazards immediately and respond to emergencies appropriately. Candidates must be capable of performing First-Aid and CPR, along with having knowledge of our fire and tornado evacuation procedures. Additional duties include teaching patrons how to swim and learning basic water chemistry to develop an understanding of pool maintenance equipment.

Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess or be able to obtain the following credentials: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED Certifications. Training will be offered for hired applicants. Applicants without a certification must receive their certification within 3 months of hire date. The successful applicant must be able to work and communicate (both written and verbally) well with adults and children. Lead Pool Attendants are needed to fill all shifts and must be available to work from pool open to close times, plus attend any staff meetings.
