Job summary

The City of Twinsburg is seeking a seasonal lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions at the water park. You will supervise swimmers, take lifesaving actions, enforce rules, and engage guests in a positive, fun environment. Must be able to swim and hold current lifeguard + CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.

The position requires 30–40 hours per week, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Starting pay is $16.00/hour with a certification bonus up to $1.75/hour for applicable

Responsibilities

Job description

This is a seasonal, non-union position. The starting pay for this position is $16.00/hour, plus a certification bonus up to $1.75/hour for applicable certifications. This position works 30-40 hours per week, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. A great way to have fun and gain valuable work experience!

POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes participant safety and engagement in accordance with City policies and procedures. Takes life‑saving action when needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises swimmers both in the pool and on deck.
• Takes lifesaving action(s) as needed.
• Maintains a safe pool environment including keeping the pool, deck and surrounding areas clean and free of hazard.
• Maintains proper conduct of public in all areas of pool facilities.
• Interacts with users to encourage maximum proper use of all facilities.
• Light cleaning duties and facility maintenance.
• Must have flexible availability, the Water Park is a seven day a week operation.
• Work alongside other Water Park staff to provide a safe and fun environment for all Water Park members and guests.
• Enforces all Water Park rules and policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• Strong communication, leadership and organizational skills required.
• Must be able to swim.
• Previous Lifeguarding experience a plus.
• Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Current CPR/AED/First Aid certified.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
• Must have distance vision, depth perception.
• Must have sufficient hearing ability with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and emergency signals and to communicate with other employees and the general public.
• Rate: $16 per hour (plus certification bonus up to $1.75 for applicable certifications)
• Regular, punctual in-person attendance.
• Ability to interact with and be courteous to fellow employees and participants of diverse backgrounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high places and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
