Job summary

BLHI is seeking a Plumbing Superintendent to lead on-site plumbing activities on complex projects, coordinating with project management, other trades, and inspectors to ensure code-compliant installations aligned with plans and schedules.

The role requires extensive plumbing knowledge, supervisory experience, and strong communication to resolve field conflicts, manage subcontractors, and support commissioning, inspections, and safety initiatives on site.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of plumbing experience in commercial or industrial construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• In-depth knowledge of plumbing systems, codes, installation methods, and sequencing.
• Proven ability to manage subcontractors and field personnel in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; capable of interacting with project teams, inspectors, and clients.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred; Journeyman/Master Plumber licensure a plus.
• Experience with federal or government work strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all on-site plumbing activities, ensuring installations align with construction documents, codes, and safety standards.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, MEP and other superintendents to ensure smooth sequencing of work across trades.
• Monitor schedule milestones for plumbing and adjust daily/weekly tasks to meet overall project deadlines.
• Oversee plumbing subcontractors and self-perform crews, ensuring proper manpower levels, productivity, and adherence to specifications.
• Proactively resolve field conflicts and discrepancies through coordination and clear communication.
• Review and understand shop drawings, submittals, and coordination drawings to verify field installations match approved documents.
• Ensure inspections are scheduled, passed, and documented with local authorities and third-party code officials.
• Maintain accurate daily logs and reports of manpower, progress, inspections, and issues.
• Enforce and model jobsite safety procedures, holding crews accountable for maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
• Support commissioning efforts and assist with system testing, startup, and punch list resolution.
