Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years in underground plumbing or excavation, with 2+ years leading residential/light commercial/civil crews.
• Experience with trenchless technologies (pipe bursting or CIPP) is a plus.
• Read plans, mark-outs and as-builts; operate equipment safely.
• Strong knowledge of pipe materials (PVC, DIP, clay, ABS); bedding, compaction, grade/laser, backflow.
• Credentials: OSHA 30; Competent Person Trenching and Excavation; First Aid/ CPR; Flagger; CDL a plus.
• Ideal candidate: clear communicator, calm under pressure, decisive, organized; physical ability to lift 50+ lbs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute jobs by reviewing work orders, locates, videos and plans.
• Coordinate permits, inspections, traffic control, locates, and material/equipment staging.
• Build daily/weekly crew schedules; assign tasks to operators, pipelayers, laborers.
• Lead Crews with start-of-day huddles; track progress and coach for quality and speed.
• Uphold safety standards: trench protection, shoring, restoration.
• Own safety/compliance as OSHA Competent Person; document soil classification and atmosphere testing.
• Communicate with homeowners/GCs, inspectors, utilities; set expectations.
• Partner with dispatch, service/install, and warehouse for smooth handoffs.
• Control cost/quality: verify materials, tickets, timecards; capture as-builts/photos.
• Approve change orders with supporting documentation for billing.
• Maintain equipment and sites: schedule maintenance for excavators, skid steers, vacs, trucks, trailers.
• Maintain tidy jobsites; coordinate traffic plans and restoration.
• Report and improve: meet daily targets; close-out packets; contribute to reviews.
• Mentor apprentices; train trench safety, confined space, and utility awareness.
