Job summary

Maryland‑National Capital Park and Planning Commission is seeking a Plumber II in the Building & Structures (Trade Shops) section to perform skilled plumbing and gas fitting work across 430+ park buildings. You will install, maintain, repair, and modify piping systems while ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

You will supervise Plumbers, Trades Trainees, and Maintenance Workers and coordinate the workflow among the team, with potential CDL endorsements depending on assignment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved plumbing/gas fitting apprentice program or four years of progressive experience.
• Two years of experience at the journey level.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, totaling six years.
• Valid Journey Plumber License and Gas Fitter Certification.
• Valid driver’s license per State and Commission rules; CDL with endorsements may be required.
• Pass Commission medical examination; may be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled plumbing and gas fitting work compliant with WSSC and national codes.
• Install, maintain, repair, replace, or modify plumbing systems and gas piping.
• Coordinate the work of Plumbers, Trades Trainees, and Maintenance Workers.
• Lead and supervise team members; work without direct supervision when needed.
