Job summary

Jabil is seeking a Lead PLM & Configuration Engineer to serve as the system authority for CAD models, BOMs, and technical documentation, ensuring data integrity and lifecycle governance across concept, NPI, production, and sustaining phases.

You will own revision management, baselining, and release workflows, coordinating across mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, quality, and documentation teams to drive timely, compliant product data throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of PLM, configuration management, or product data governance within complex engineering environments.
• Deep understanding of PLM systems, engineering change processes, and release workflows.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-functional engineering activities across multiple disciplines.
• Strong understanding of CAD, BOM, document control, and lifecycle relationships.
• Proven ability to drive technical execution, prioritize work, and achieve closure without formal management authority.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end configuration control for CAD models, BOMs, and technical documentation within the PLM system.
• Ensure accurate revision management, baselining, effectivity, lifecycle states, and release readiness across all engineering artifacts.
• Maintain alignment between CAD structures, EBOMs, MBOMs, and released documentation.
• Serve as the authoritative source for released product data, ensuring integrity, traceability, and audit readiness.
• Own and enforce ECR/ECN workflows, ensuring changes are properly reviewed, approved, and traceable.
• Manage as-designed versus as-built alignment across product variants and lifecycle phases.
• Coordinate engineering release activities across mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, quality, and documentation teams.
• Drive resolution of configuration, release, and data quality issues to support program schedules and business objectives.
• Lead release readiness reviews, change control boards, and cross-functional working sessions.
• Facilitate prioritization, action-item tracking, and issue resolution across engineering teams.
• Identify and remove blockers, manage dependencies, and drive accountability without direct supervisory authority.
• Apply Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or similar execution methodologies to improve engineering workflow efficiency and predictability.
• Define and enforce naming conventions, metadata standards, classification structures, and release criteria.
• Resolve configuration discrepancies, duplicate records, and data integrity issues.
• Continuously improve PLM, configuration management, and release processes to increase engineering velocity and data quality.
• Develop and maintain configuration management standards, best practices, and governance procedures.
• Ensure PLM data structures support customer audits, compliance requirements, and quality management systems.
• Maintain traceable records linking requirements, designs, changes, configurations, and released products.
• Support customer, regulatory, and internal audits through configuration history, impact analysis, and documentation retrieval.

The Lead PLM & Configuration Engineer is an individual contributor responsible for disciplined configuration control and lifecycle governance of all CAD models, BOMs, and technical documentation within the PLM system. This role acts as the system authority ensuring data integrity, traceability and alignment across mechanical, electrical, and documentation domains throughout concept, NPI, production and sustaining phases.

The position owns revision management, baselining, effectiveness, and ECR/ECN workflows, preventing data divergence while enabling scalable, repeatable engineering operations. The role is critical to supporting customer audits, compliance requirements, and product lifecycle traceability in complex, configuration-driven product environments.

Key Responsibilities

Configuration Control & PLM Governance

• Own end-to-end configuration control for CAD models, BOMs, and technical documentation within the PLM system.

• Familiarity with product variants, regional configurations, and effectivity management.

• Experience supporting customer, regulatory, or quality audits.

The pay range for this role is $110,100 - $198,200.
