Job summary

Reducto in San Francisco is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for Platform to own the infrastructure behind our core API. You’ll work across Python services, Kubernetes, queues, model-serving paths, observability, and developer tooling to make document processing fast, reliable, and cost-efficient at scale.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years building production backend systems, strong Python or other backend language, Terraform/IaC, and experience leading a small team while collaborating with

Qualifications

• 5+ years building, hardening, and scaling production backend/platform systems.
• Hands-on with distributed systems and Kubernetes or similar orchestration.
• Strong in Python or deeply expert in another backend language and comfortable in Python.

Responsibilities

• Scale Reducto’s core API and document processing pipelines for higher throughput and lower latency.
• Reduce infra and model-serving costs without sacrificing quality or reliability.
• Improve deployment workflows, observability, alerting, and operational safety.
• Build internal tooling, evals, and debugging workflows for rapid troubleshooting.
• Partner with ML/backend engineers to optimize LLM/model-serving paths in production.
• Serve as a technical lead for platform/backend projects as the team grows.
