Job summary

Guardian Life Insurance Company of America is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to advance developer experience by delivering scalable platform capabilities, services, and tooling. You will partner with multiple engineering teams to drive adoption across the software lifecycle and enablement initiatives.

The role requires 7–10 years of software engineering, strong leadership, and experience across modern languages and tooling. Hybrid work options exist with offices in NY, NJ, and PA.

Qualifications

7–10 years of professional software engineering experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Demonstrated experience designing, building, and operating production software systems.
Strong software development skills across C#, TypeScript, Java, Python, Go, Kotlin or similar languages.

Responsibilities

Design and build reusable platform capabilities, services, APIs, integrations, tooling, and automation.
Lead strategic engineering initiatives from scope through production delivery.
Create clear documentation, onboarding materials, and reusable engineering patterns.
Improve developer workflows and platform usability with targeted technical solutions.
