Job summary

The City of Palm Springs is seeking a senior plan check supervisor to lead staff in examining building plans for compliance with codes and regulations. You will ensure quality work, allocate resources, and coordinate with other departments and outside consultants.

Qualifications include four years in plan check with at least one year in supervisory roles, plus an educational background in architecture/engineering or related fields.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of plan check experience with at least 1 year in supervisory capacity.
• Customer service experience in plan check environment preferred.
• Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prioritize, supervise, review, and participate in plan checking for compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Coordinate plan checking with other departments and outside consultants.
• Explain applicable codes to public, staff, and agencies; resolve disputes between design/build community and staff.
• Prepare reports, budgets, and participate in special projects as assigned.
• Attend meetings and stay updated on trends in plan examination and code compliance.
