Job summary

The City of Anaheim Planning and Building Department is seeking a dynamic Senior Plans Examiner (Senior Plan Check Engineer) to perform advanced plan checking of major structures and provide consultation to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners. This role reviews complex developments for compliance with building codes and safety regulations while serving as a trusted technical resource.

Four years of journey-level experience and a related bachelor’s degree are required.

Qualifications

• Four years of journey-level experience in architectural and structural analysis and plan checking, with a related bachelor’s degree.
• Knowledge of civil/structural engineering principles and building codes, and related regulations.
• Ability to interpret complex plans, advise applicants, and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced plan checking of major structures.
• Provide consultation to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners.
• Review complex commercial, industrial, mixed-use, and high-rise developments for compliance with codes and safety regulations.
• Serve as a technical resource throughout the development review process.
