Job summary
City of Andover KS is seeking a Planning & Zoning Administrator to lead our planning and zoning functions, guiding daily administration of land use regulations and long-range planning initiatives. You will serve as primary staff liaison to the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Site Plan Review Committee, and coordinate with the Director of Community Development.
The role requires interpreting zoning, subdivision, and floodplain regulations, supervising staff, and representing the
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, urban design, public administration, or related field
- 3–5 years progressive experience in urban planning or public administration
- AICP certification preferred or ability to obtain
Responsibilities
- Assist Director with long-range planning, zoning, subdivision and site plan review
- Administer zoning, subdivision, floodplain, and other land use regulations daily and long-term
- Support boards/commissions with agendas and records
- Lead review and issuance of zoning permits and site plan approvals
- Prepare staff reports and present findings to boards and the public
- Support city’s economic development efforts
