Job summary

Genesis Staffing is seeking a Lead Piping Designer in North Kingstown, Rhode Island to lead the design and development of piping systems for marine vessels. The role involves producing detailed 2D and 3D drawings, coordinating with multiple engineering disciplines, and delivering fabrication packages for manufacturing and installation.

Responsibilities

• Led piping system design for commercial and government marine vessels, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specs.
• Produced and reviewed 2D drawings and 3D piping models using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and constructability.
• Coordinated with structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and production teams to integrate piping systems into vessel designs.
• Developed piping layouts, isometric drawings, fabrication packages, and installation drawings to support manufacturing and assembly.
• Performed equipment arrangement studies, pipe routing, material selection, and clash detection to optimize system performance and installation.
• Reviewed engineering calculations, P&IDs, and technical specifications to ensure design accuracy and compliance.
• Managed design changes, resolved technical issues, and supported production during vessel construction and commissioning.
• Conducted design reviews, quality checks, and compliance verification to meet customer requirements and classification society standards.
• Mentored and supervised junior piping designers, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
• Collaborated with project managers, engineers, vendors, and shipyard personnel to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Prepared material take-offs (MTOs), bills of materials (BOMs), and procurement documentation to support fabrication and installation.
• Improved design workflows and drawing standards, increasing project efficiency while maintaining high-quality engineering deliverables.
