Job summary

IHG Mechanical is seeking a highly engaged Lead Pipe Insulator to lead field projects and supervise insulation crews on industrial piping tasks. The role involves traveling to diverse job sites, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to schedule.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in insulation, hands-on experience with polystyrene on cold-service systems, and the ability to read drawings. OSHA 30 or OSHA 10 with quick progression to OSHA 30 is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical insulation experience, including industrial or process piping.
• Experience leading a crew.
• Hands-on experience with polystyrene on cold-service systems.
• Experience with hot and cold service, including vapor barriers.
• OSHA 30 certification OR OSHA 10 with the ability to complete OSHA 30 within 90 days of hire (company paid).
• Ability to travel up to 100% as needed, with occasional overnight travel, shutdown work, nights, and weekends.

Experienced leader and insulation professional needed at IHG Mechanical!

We're seeking a driven, goal-oriented person to lead our field projects as a full-time Lead Pipe Insulator. You'll travel to all kinds of job sites to support successful projects and ensure team members do an excellent job.

YOUR SCHEDULE

Hours can vary based on project and business needs. Up to 100% travel is required, and flexibility is needed for working nights, weekends, and overnights occasionally.

YOUR DAY

As our Lead Pipe Insulator, you'll oversee the insulation crew to make sure all industrial and process piping activities are appropriately completed. Working with steam, process lines, chilled water, and refrigeration piping, you'll make sure your team completes high-quality work while staying on schedule. You'll manage the project tools, ensure safety compliance, and jump in where you're needed to support efficient project completion!

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of mechanical insulation experience, including industrial or process piping
• Experience leading a crew
• Hands-on experience with polystyrene on cold-service systems
• Experience with hot and cold service, including vapor barriers
• OSHA 30 certification OR OSHA 10 with the ability to complete OSHA 30 within 90 days of hire (company paid)
• Ability to accurately fabricate and install metal, aluminum, and stainless jacketing
• Ability to travel up to 100% as needed, with occasional overnight travel, shutdown work, nights, and weekends
• Ability to read technical drawings and complete material takeoffs
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal transportation
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, work from heights, work in tight spaces, wear PPE, and work in outdoor/indoor environments in all weather conditions

Ideally, we would prefer that our Lead Pipe Insulator has completed a related apprenticeship and asbestos awareness training. Relevant certifications (forklift, confined space, fall protection, etc.) would be great. Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills would also be a plus.
