Job summary

Ozarks Technical Community College invites applicants for an Instructor - Pilot Ground School in the Technical Education department. This full-time, 12-month position supports FAA Part 141 Ground School requirements and is supervised by the Aviation Department Chair.

The instructor develops daily lesson plans, delivers instruction for 15 credit hours per fall and spring and 4 credit hours in the summer, maintains required certifications, and promotes a safe, professional learning environment

Qualifications

• Associate degree or within six months of hire.
• BGI and IGI or current Flight Instructor certificate required.
• Missouri teaching certificate or ability to obtain it.
• Three years of relevant aviation experience.
• Willingness for daytime/evening/weekend teaching.
• Strong communication and IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare the learning environment with needed materials and supplies.
• Provide instruction reflective of current standards using approved curriculum.
• Engage students with intentional teaching strategies.
• Develop and assess curriculum to meet program goals.
• Create course syllabi using approved templates.
• Maintain records of attendance and grades; schedule office hours.

Education

Associate degree (regionally accredited)

FAA Basic Ground Instructor (BGI)

FAA Instrument Ground Instructor (IGI)

Flight Instructor certificate (Airplane Single and Multiengine)

Missouri teaching certificate

Three years of pilot/aviation experience
