Job summary

WVU Medicine is seeking a Physical Therapy leader to direct the department's staff in a combined outpatient and inpatient setting. You will oversee evaluations, treatment plans, and ensure quality care while coordinating with physicians and hospital leadership.

You will manage documentation, maintain safety standards, and contribute to staff orientation and ongoing education. This role environments require strong communication and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• Licensed or eligible for licensure in West Virginia with temporary licensure if needed.
• Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.
• Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Physical Therapy Department staff, including PTAs, aides, and clerical staff.
• Observe and evaluate treatment effects; propose changes to the physician.
• Perform initial evaluations and periodic re-evaluations as per policy.
• Develop and assess teaching plans; include family in education as appropriate.
• Treat patients and families with respect, addressing psychosocial needs.
• Operate and maintain equipment; ensure department cleanliness and safety.
• Communicate with physicians, hospital staff, and administration clearly.
• Coordinate patient care to meet needs and follow hospital policy.
• Maintain personnel and operation records; ensure timely patient charges.
• Assist with orientation and training; participate in internal and community programs.
• Ensure documentation meets current standards and policies; collaborate with other departments.
