Houston Methodist is hiring a full-time Lead Phlebotomist for the Outpatient Laboratory in Houston. The role oversees a phlebotomy team, ensures accurate specimen collection and processing, and supports patient-focused service across a fast-paced setting.

The position requires strong leadership, data-entry experience, and proficiency with laboratory information systems. Availability for 5:45am–4:15pm shifts, with occasional weekends, is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Course in phlebotomy/venipuncture preferred.
• Five years of related experience including data entry and specimen handling.
• Neonatal/pediatric phlebotomy experience.
• Experience leading a team preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote a positive work environment and lead the team to achieve department results.
• Orient, guide and mentor staff; assist in interviewing and hiring new staff.
• Collect and process biological specimens; handle STAT samples.
• Operate Hospital Information System and order tests.
• Monitor activities to ensure patient throughput and satisfaction.
