Job summary

Trinity Health in West Des Moines, IA seeks a part-time Pharmacy Intern to support training and workflow in a hospital environment. You will mentor new employees, guide intern tasks, and help maintain high standards of quality and patient care.

Responsibilities include coordinating intern staffing, updating training materials, and facilitating regular meetings with staff and leadership to align goals with Trinity Health’s mission and values.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school.
  • Must be registered as Pharmacy Intern with the State of Iowa.
  • BLS certification within three months of hire.
  • Completion of Iowa HHS Mandatory Reporter training within three months.

  • Coordinates intern staffing with Intern Manager or scheduler to ensure coverage and workload balance.
  • Serves as a resource for staff questions and maintains knowledge of processes for pharmacy interns.
  • Organizes and supports intern participation in department projects and initiatives.
  • Schedules and facilitates regular meetings with intern staff and leadership for communication and alignment of goals.

What You Will Do
  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
  • Provides training, mentoring, and ongoing support to new employees and assists in directing workflow as needed to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Guides intern personnel in the performance of their duties and supports ongoing quality assurance and adherence to established standards and procedures.
  • Monitors intern workflow and regularly reviews training materials and workflow documentation, making updates and improvements as necessary to support operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinates intern staffing and work assignments in collaboration with the Intern Manager and/or designated scheduler to ensure appropriate coverage and workload distribution.
  • Serves as a resource for staff questions and maintains comprehensive knowledge of processes and procedures applicable to pharmacy technicians and interns.
  • Organizes and supports intern participation in departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Schedules and facilitates regular meetings with intern staff and leadership to promote communication, feedback, and alignment of goals
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school.
  • Must be registered as a Pharmacy Intern with the State of Iowa.
  • One (1) year of Pharmacy experience in a hospital environment preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certified within three (3) months of hire.
  • Completion of required Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Mandatory Reporter

training based on the population served within three (3) months of hire
