Job summary

Barrington James is seeking a Pharmacist in Charge to own and lead a fast-growing 503A compounding pharmacy. You will set clinical and operational standards, build a compounding team, and drive quality, safety, and compliance.

This leadership role oversees regulatory adherence, inventory, and DEA/State Board accountability, mentoring staff and ensuring high-quality compounded products in a wellness-focused setting.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia Pharmacist license required; additional active state licenses strongly preferred
• Demonstrated compounding experience required; sterile compounding experience a plus
• Proven pharmacy leadership or management experience, with strong communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced, high-growth pharmacy environment

Responsibilities

• Serve as the pharmacy’s clinical and operational leader, interpreting, verifying, and providing final sign-off on physician medication orders and compounded preparations.
• Direct compounding operations end to end, ensuring compliance with USP standards and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Build, supervise, and mentor pharmacists, technicians, and support staff, overseeing training, development, and day-to-day performance.
• Lead quality and compliance across medication safety, audits, batch documentation, compounding standards, CAPA, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee inventory, controlled substances, policies and procedures, and overall pharmacy operations, serving as the primary point of accountability for DEA and State Board requirements.
