Location Description
Michael Foods, Inc. located in Norwalk, Iowa is a southern suburb in the Des Moines, Iowa metropolitan area. We are known for knowing our neighbors and enjoying a great quality of life! Our location produces high quality precooked egg patties as well as various French Toast products.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This role has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce safety as a Core Value. The Lead ensures that all policies, procedures and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to perform and teach all jobs in the area; oven operation, line work, robot, sanitation and forklift.
- Monitor product and standards and make changes to operation to ensure product is being produced with the highest possible quality.
- Help maintain control records related to precooked department, including but not limited to production records, safety inspections/audits.
- Continually monitor lines for quality product and notify all appropriate personnel if discrepancies are found.
- Monitor processing equipment on a continual basis to maintain proper production standards.
- Report and complete work orders on maintenance issues as they relate to productivity, food safety, quality and human safety to maintenance.
- Coach and encourage suggestions from employees which will improve productivity, quality or control cost of production.
- Maintain accurate reports for accounting, operation and scheduling. completes daily paperwork in SAP and RedZone. Reports include downtime reports, shift reports, and production run reports.
- Assure that all paperwork is being done properly
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
- Adhere to Quality work practices, follow all GMP’s,maintainsanitary conditions and ensure that productquality ismaintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Successful completion of Powered Industrial Truck training program and pass the forklift certification.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- One or more months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend in English simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization in English.
- Bilingual is a plus.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
