Job summary

ERM is seeking a Managing Consultant, Scientist in Cincinnati, OH to lead permitting for solar, wind, transmission, and other large-scale energy projects. You will guide regulatory compliance and environmental assessments across the eastern United States.

You will oversee wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and surveys, mentor junior staff, and help grow ERM's presence in the southeastern market while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in biology, ecology, or environmental sciences (or equivalent).
  • 4–6 years of due diligence and permitting experience (7–10 years preferred).
  • Proven expertise in wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and species-specific surveys.
  • Strong knowledge of biological impact assessment and permitting practices.
  • Experience with federal, state, and local permitting in GA, NC, SC, and VA.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and client relationship skills.
  • Driver’s License required; frequent travel to client sites within a large region.
  • Commitment to safety and Health & Safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Lead permitting and technical work on wetland/WOTUS delineations and habitat assessments.
  • Oversee preparation of local, state, and federal permitting documents and ensure quality standards.
  • Manage multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Prepare technical proposals, scopes, and cost estimates; support business development.
  • Collaborate on Impact Assessment and Permitting projects.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff to build technical and leadership capabilities.
  • Assist in recruiting and coordinating regional staffing needs.
  • Build strong relationships across ERM’s regional and national teams.
