Qualifications

  • Current GPPSS performing arts teacher with Michigan teaching certification and endorsement.
  • Knowledge of performing arts instruction, curriculum development, and grades 5-12 alignment.
  • Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Commitment to shared leadership, staff voice, collaborative decision-making, and positive professional relationships.
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple performing arts disciplines, grade levels, buildings, and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the ongoing development, review, implementation, and vertical alignment of the grades 5-12 performing arts curriculum.
  • Facilitate collaborative discussions regarding curriculum, instructional practices, assessments, resources, and program needs.
  • Work with department members and administration to identify curricular priorities, address areas of need, and support continuous improvement.
  • Support the implementation and communication of district curricular initiatives and instructional expectations.
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate department meetings that promote collaboration, shared problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish opportunities to gather input and feedback from department members regarding decisions, recommendations, and initiatives that impact programs.
  • Facilitate collaborative decision-making, represent the perspectives and professional expertise of department members, and build consensus when appropriate.
  • Promote positive professional relationships and collaboration among performing arts staff across buildings, grade levels, and disciplines.
  • Serve as a liaison between grades 5-12 performing arts staff and district and building administration, ensuring timely and consistent two-way communication.
  • Communicate relevant information to department members and bring departmental questions, recommendations, needs, and feedback forward to administration.
  • Assist with the coordination of department-wide initiatives, events, professional learning, resources, and other activities as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with department members and administrators regarding recommendations for instructional materials, equipment, technology, facilities, and other program resources.
