Job summary

Woven by Toyota in Palo Alto is seeking a Lead Engineer to drive the multi‑year roadmap, architecture, metrics, and technical strategy for World Understanding software. This role targets ML system design and verification, with a focus on data‑driven and deep learning methods for complex, real‑world autonomy.

You will mentor tech leads, influence stakeholders including TMC, and collaborate with ML researchers and software/hardware teams to advance safe, scalable perception and world understanding

Qualifications

• 10+ years in ML applications or applied science.
• MS or PhD in ML, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Aerospace or related field.
• Deep ML knowledge, multi-modality and sequential modeling.
• Real-time system development and production code practices.

Responsibilities

• Drive multi-year roadmap and architecture for World Understanding software.
• Lead project execution and define efficient engineering processes.
• Collaborate with Data, Behavior, Developer Ecosystem, and Product teams.
• Develop state-of-the-art models for driving environments.
• Increase speed of model iteration while maintaining cost efficiency.
• Mentor engineers and lead reviews of technical designs.
• Maintain and validate system-level architecture for safety and performance.
