Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a Lead Peer Recovery Coach to oversee PEER Recovery Coaches across projects, assisting onboarding and certification, and coordinating with ED teams for MOUD. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates or Bachelor's in Human Services, Counseling, or related field preferred.
  • Active recovery with at least three years sustained abstinence required.
  • SC Certified Peer Support Specialist course preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and screen patients in MUSC EDs for problematic substance use and conduct brief intervention and/or further assessment.
  • Coordinate linkage to rapid referral and outpatient treatment, addressing barriers such as transportation or IDs.
  • Provide peer support to help patients attain their recovery goals and share resources.
  • Participate in wellness, credentialing, and team oversight meetings per ED MOUD protocol.
  • Advocate for patients and reduce stigma, with post-discharge outreach and follow-up.
  • Manage administrative duties related to schedule, coverage, and leave requests.
