Job summary

Suncoast Behavioral Health Center seeks a Lead Mental Health Technician for 3P – 11:30P to provide direct patient care to children and adolescents in a behavioral health setting. The role focuses on patient safety, policy adherence, and assisting with treatment and daily activities.

You will support therapy, recreation, and monitor changes in social behavior, with emphasis on least restrictive interventions and teamwork within the unit.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field preferred.
• Minimum 1 year direct care experience in a psychiatric setting with children/adolescents.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to participate in physical restraint and Handle With Care training annually.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to children and adolescents in a behavioral health setting.
• Ensure patient safety on the units and enforce hospital policies.
• Assist patients in treatment, recreation, and activities of daily living; monitor social and clinical status.
• Ensure program schedule is followed and unit tasks are assigned.
• Utilize least restrictive interventions per facility policy and avoid seclusion when possible.
