Job summary

The Brigham and Women\u2019s Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and assist with routine clinical tasks on the night shift.

Under supervision of licensed personnel, you will document measurements in the EHR, maintain clean rooms, and collaborate with RNs and physicians to ensure safe, compassionate care.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care duties and clinical tasks as assigned, including vital signs, EKGs, bathing, ambulation, and 1:1 observation.
• Assists RNs and physicians with exams and treatments as required.
• Documents height, weight, intake/output, and vitals in the EHR.
• Keeps patient rooms stocked, equipped and clean based on needs and patient volumes.
• Follows admission and discharge procedures and communicates admissions to the responsible party.
• Interacts effectively with patients, visitors and care team members.
• Provides leadership to the PCA team, including training, mentoring, and orientation; participates in interviews.
• Assists Nursing Director with shift schedules and payroll as designated.
• Assigns tasks and manages workload to ensure proper resource utilization.
• Aids in unit-based procedures and supports quality control programs.
