Job description

Part Time (24 hours per week)

Primarily 11:00am to 11:00pm Every Saturday and Sunday

Onsite for Registration

Summary:

The Lead Patient Access Service Representative coordinates, with guidance provided by the Supervisor, the daily and/or assigned workload distribution of clerical, systems, and systems downtime needs of the Admitting/Access department. This role includes active mentoring of staff to ensure timely and accurate data collection. Secondary functions include supporting staff absences.

Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinates departmental needs with staff, ensuring patients are registered timely and information collected is complete and accurate.
  2. Supports Patient Access Service Representatives by answering questions and providing coverage.
  3. Ensures equipment is functioning properly and communicates equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
  4. Registers complete and accurate social, demographic, and financial information to create the patient's record in the system.
  5. Obtains necessary signatures on forms for treatment and insurance billing.
  6. Prepares forms and patient ID cards.
  7. Confirms financial eligibility when applicable.
  8. Processes patient records and financial folders.
  9. Maintains control over cash flow, payments, and daily deposits.
  10. Coordinates Epic downtime processes.
  11. Performs other duties as required.
Technical Expertise:
  1. Experience in a hospital-based healthcare environment involving registration, insurance verification/pre-certification, patient accounts, or customer service is required.
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology or certification of completion is preferred.
  3. Experience interacting with patients of all ages, respecting their needs for dignity, is required.
  4. Experience working with colleagues and management is required.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
  6. Epic experience is required.
Education and Experience:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. No certification required.
  3. 3 to 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  4. No supervisory experience is required.
