Job description

Responsible for obtaining Personal Health Information (PHI) for all Butler patients in a timely, professional, and caring manner. This information, entered into the Hospital’s Information and Clinical Systems, includes demographic and financial data used by all departments within the hospital.

Greet and receive patients and visitors, assist in comforting and interacting with patients and their families, and communicate with other staff in various departments as needed.

Obtain complete and accurate PHI necessary to properly register patients into the Hospital Information and Clinical Systems (Patcom and Affinity) efficiently, ensuring minimal inconvenience to the patient. Explain financial requirements and regulatory mandates professionally and compassionately.

Secure signatures for consent to surgery/treatment, financial responsibility, and other required authorizations.

Organize registration forms for inclusion in the patient’s permanent medical record.

Assist in maintaining the hospital’s financial integrity by verifying patient insurance information through online communication with payers using the SSI system.

Scan insurance cards and Photo IDs.

Explain and distribute regulatory-required information such as HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, Important Message to Medicare Patients, and Medicare Advance Beneficiary Notice.

Maintain a courteous, helpful, and professional demeanor with staff, patients, and families. Promote excellent customer service in daily interactions.

Refer patients to the Insurance Team Verification Associates for assistance with out-of-pocket costs, copays, insurance breakdowns, and copay collections.

Schedule: Full-Time Days - Every Other Weekend, 40/80 hours.
