A leading healthcare organization seeks a patient registration specialist to manage Personal Health Information (PHI) efficiently while ensuring excellent customer service. The role involves direct patient interaction, obtaining necessary consents, and verifying insurance details within a supportive team environment.
Responsible for obtaining Personal Health Information (PHI) for all Butler patients in a timely, professional, and caring manner. This information, entered into the Hospital’s Information and Clinical Systems, includes demographic and financial data used by all hospital departments.
Greet and receive patients and visitors, assist in comforting and interacting with patients and their families, and communicate with staff in other departments as needed.
Obtain complete and accurate PHI necessary for proper patient registration into the Hospital Information and Clinical Systems (Patcom and Affinity) efficiently, ensuring minimal inconvenience to patients. Explain financial requirements and regulatory mandates professionally and compassionately.
Secure signatures for consent to surgery/treatment, financial responsibility, and other required authorizations.
Organize registration forms for inclusion in the patient’s permanent medical record.
Assist in maintaining hospital financial integrity by verifying patient insurance information through online communication with payers using the SSI system.
Scan insurance cards and Photo IDs.
Explain and distribute regulatory-required information such as HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, Important Message to Medicare Patients, and Medicare Advance Beneficiary Notice.
Maintain a courteous, helpful, and professional demeanor with staff, patients, and families, promoting excellent customer service in all interactions.
Refer patients to the Insurance Team Verification Associates for assistance with out-of-pocket costs, copays, insurance breakdowns, and copay collections.
Schedule: Full Time Days - Every Other Weekend, 40/80 hours.
