Job description

A successful candidate will play an active role in the City of College Park’s existing operational success. The purpose of the position is to assist with planning and coordinating activities and operations of the Georgia International Convention Center and Gateway Center Arena parking facilities and lots to meet contractual obligations and quality customer service standards.Independent judgment is required to identify, select and apply the most appropriate of available guidelines and procedures as well as interpret precedents. This position is responsible for assisting with directing and coordinating the operation and maintenance of Georgia International Convention Center and Gateway Center Arena parking facilities.

  • Calculates and collects parking fees using computerized parking equipment as well as manual verification during daily audits.
  • Trains attendants on proper procedures and use of equipment.
  • Communicates event schedule to staff and responds to the information requested by the public.
  • Generates procedure accounting verification reports and other reports from the parking system management computer.
  • Performs minor repairs on parking equipment.
  • Completes work schedules for parking attendants; attends weekly meetings to get an overview of what events to expect.
  • Determines needs for each event; prepares parking lot based on event contracts.
  • Directs traffic into the parking lot; assists customers with accessing additional parking; monitors parking lot capacity.
  • Answers inquiries or requests and resolves complaints and problems.
  • Responsible for overseeing the parking inventory and order supplies when necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.
  • Knowledge of event-related and departmental procedures established by the Georgia International Convention Center and Gateway Center Arena;
  • Knowledge of operational characteristics, services, and activities of parking lot operations;
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices; cash reconciliation procedures;
  • Knowledge of traffic issues related to conventions, tradeshows, consumer shows, concerts, and similar events;
  • Knowledge of parking operation procedures, traffic flow issues, and traffic safety procedures and laws;
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate information and policies as they apply to events;
  • Ability to analyze complex schedules of both facility and personnel to provide effective event staffing.
  • Effective analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.
  • Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, and personal accountability.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handlingobjectsof average-weightup to fifty (50) pounds, standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

  • Associates degree or two (2) years of college course work in Management or related field required.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of parking operations or related experience; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational, supervisory, and communication skills.
  • Experience in communicating with diverse communities, and in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
  • Extensive hours and weekends will be required at times.
