Role Description

The Lead Painter is a full-time role based in Central Indiana, with primary on-site work at residential and commercial job locations and some administrative or planning tasks. This role is responsible for preparing and finishing interior and exterior surfaces, and ensuring projects meet company standards for cleanliness, safety, and quality. Day-to-day activities include surface preparation, paint and coating application, spray work, minor carpentry or repair tasks related to painting, and maintaining tools and equipment. The Lead Painter will coordinate with project managers and clients on schedules, color selections, and job expectations, while mentoring team members and helping maintain a professional jobsite. The role also includes documenting work performed, reviewing materials needs, and supporting the company’s commitment to excellent customer service and craftsmanship.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in paint application and general painting, including interior and exterior projects.
• Experience in painting, including surface preparation, color matching, and finish selection.
• Knowledge of coatings, including appropriate product selection and application techniques for different surfaces.
• Proficiency in spray painting, including safe operation, masking, and achieving consistent finishes.
• Previous experience leading or supervising painting crews in residential and/or commercial settings.
• Ability to read work orders, follow project plans, and communicate clearly with clients and project management teams.
• Commitment to safety practices, neatness, and maintaining a clean, professional work environment.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, standing, and working on ladders.
• Valid drivers licsence required, company van and tools provided.
• High school diploma or equivalent; trade certifications in painting or coatings are a plus.
• Prior experience in carpentry repairs, epoxy flooring, or related trades is beneficial.
