Qualifications

Job description

Overview

Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is looking for a Leads PACS Administrator to join our team!

The Lead PACS Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and interoperations of the PACS system and the services it provides. The Lead PACS administrator assists with the operational administration and network monitoring of all PACS servers and workstations. This includes daily system monitoring, storage media monitoring, user management, network monitoring, quality control and performance monitoring, study monitoring and patient information management, training for end-users both within and beyond the DI department, troubleshooting and problem solving of the systems, including development and monitoring of policies and procedures, and providing proactive, technical administration, planning, coordination and documentation. Oversees compliance with all state, federal and locally mandated laws/regulations, standards and protocols relating to PACS administration.

In addition, this role also assists the Radiology Director in the day-to-day operations of the department including the deployment and coordination of radiology resources including both staff and equipment. The Lead PACS Administrator works alongside the Radiology Director in coordinating quality assurance activities, assessment, and operation of imaging equipment within the department including not only direct involvement with service issues and staff education but also evaluation of equipment upgrades and replacements. In the absence of the Radiology Director, the Lead PACS Administrator will step in to actively oversee the imaging department and represent diagnostic imaging in meetings with the leadership team.

Routine duties include monitoring the PACS admin email, processing image transfer requests, merging outside images received into Copley’s PACS, maintaining the proper coordination between the Dartmouth and Copley PACS systems, trouble-shooting network and interface performance interruptions with assistance from Copley’s IT department, and routine imaging across registered modalities as needed.

This is a Full-Time position (PT available).

Responsibilities
  • The Lead PACS Administrator will bridge the gap between Clinical/Radiology and Technical/Information Technology. The Lead PACS Administrator would serve as a liaison between DI and IT to expedite the troubleshooting process and help to maintain the IT systems uptime. Must be adept at communicating with highly technical personnel while possessing a thorough understanding of the radiological diagnostic process and health imaging informatics.
  • The Lead PACS Administrator must work with vendors, IT professionals, Clinicians and Radiologists to integrate hardware, software and existing hospital systems (HIS, RIS, EDIS and PM) for the benefit of patient care.
  • The Lead PACS Administrator manages the acquisition, storage, retrieval and use of information in healthcare efficiently and effectively to improve access and quality.
  • The Lead PACS Administrator must bring a unique blend of technical, clinical and business skills necessary for this role.
  • Is responsible for providing training for all end-users of the PACS systems.
  • Responsible for working with other department leads in developing protocols for Quality Control, Reporting, ACR Compliance (mammography, CT, LDCT). Is also responsible for assisting Orthopaedics in surgical planning segmentation (Preview, Blueprint).
  • Is responsible for developing a super-user role for technologists to assist in daily QA operations to ensure accurate, efficient and timely reporting of procedures.
  • Is responsible for creating and updating policies on Standard Operating Procedures as well as developing contingency/downtime procedural policies. This may include developing redundancies for downtime contingency.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Completion of formal Radiological Technology Training program.

Experience:

  • 5 Years working with Health IT Systems (PACS, HIS, RIS, EDIS, PM)

Desired:

  • Post-Baccalaureate certification in Health IT, CIS.
