Job summary

Pregis is seeking a Lead Packer to supervise Packers across multiple production lines to guarantee quality and on-time delivery of mailers. You will ensure SOP adherence, monitor packaging components, and maintain SAP inventory integrity while coordinating with QA inspectors and the Production Supervisor for efficient workflows.

The role requires 3–5 years in manufacturing, strong leadership, and ability to communicate clearly in English; Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Lead or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficient communication skills in verbal and written English; Spanish bilingual a plus.
  • Ability to read a ruler, scale, and micrometer; basic mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead team of Packers for multiple production lines by monitoring performance and providing direction.
  • Ensure SOPs are followed during the production process.
  • Verify correct packaging components are used for each job order.
  • Maintain integrity of SAP inventory management system and load flags.
  • Monitor packaging for defects and report non-conformities; coordinate with QA Inspector.
  • Manage rotations, breaks, and manning schedules with the Production Supervisor.
  • Ensure smooth shift handoffs and timely communications with staff.
  • Train Packers on QA SOPs and conduct audits.
  • Collaborate with Quality Manager to resolve issues per QA SOPs.
  • Perform 6S and SOP audits regularly.
  • Identify raw material defects and forward information to Quality Manager.

Summary Of Job

Under the direction of Production Supervisor, the Team Lead oversees Packers to ensure the quality and production deliverables of mailers across multiple production lines meets customer specifications and delivery requirements as well as company standards for quality and operation in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Team Lead is responsible for maintaining continuous product quality during production and guiding the workflow by monitoring the packaging work force’s quality inspections and packaging process in collaboration with the assigned QA Inspector. Performs quality inspections at regularly prescribed intervals and documents accordingly across multiple production lines. Helps employees in the department perform their duties correctly. Helps converting team operate at or above designated run speeds.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Lead team of Packers for multiple production lines by monitoring performance and providing direction.
  • Ensure SOPs are followed during the production process.
  • Ensure correct packaging components are in place for each varying job order.
  • Maintain integrity of SAP inventory management system and ensure finished good load flags are placed correctly.
  • Monitor jobs, including packaging, for defects and inaccuracies per TMS quality standards; correct and report any non-conformities and initiate hold procedure when needed. Collaborate with assigned QA Inspector throughout the shift as needed.
  • Ensure Packer rotations and breaks occur per company policies.
  • Work with Production Supervisor to determine manning schedules and overtime allocations.
  • Accurately update the upcoming shift to ensure a smooth shift handoff; communicate regularly with staff to minimize delays.
  • Monitor mailer production, including packaging, for defects and inaccuracies per quality standards; correct and report any non-conformities and initiate hold procedure when needed.
  • Train Packers on Quality Assurance (QA) SOP; regularly conduct audits to ensure quality inspections are being performed.
  • Work with Quality Manager and Inspectors and Operations to resolve issues per QA SOPs.
  • Perform 6S and SOP audits regularly as required.
  • Help to identify raw material defects, captures relevant information (lot codes, samples, etc.) and forward to Quality Manager.

Education And Experience
  • High school education or equivalent technical school preferred
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Lead or Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (Spanish bilingual a plus)
  • Ability to direct a team of employees and facilitate compliance with workplace policies, procedures and rules. Elevates problems or employee concerns to Supervisor or Human Resources as needed.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 45 pounds and endure moderately controlled temperature levels.
