Job summary

Acumed LLC, part of Marmon Holdings, seeks a Staff Product Engineer, Tray & Packaging, to develop and test sterile and non-sterile packaging that protects products through transport, storage, and surgery. This role leads technical activities from concept through implementation and supports continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Bio-Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent; 8 years of experience preferred; or 14 years in medical device development.
• Strong experience leading complex projects and mentoring engineers/interns.
• High proficiency in medical device packaging design and sterile packaging testing.
• Experience with testing methods for reprocessing reusable medical devices.
• Proficiency in medical device packaging manufacturing processes and technical writing.
• Advanced knowledge of OR and Central Sterile management techniques and products.
• Ability to independently develop technical solutions and intellectual property.
• Excellent communication with cross-functional teams, HCPs, executives, and senior management.

Responsibilities

• Leads engineering scope and deliverables for large or complex projects.
• Provides technical leadership, resolves recurring issues, and sets design/testing standards.
• Mentors engineers and staff across projects and technical specialties.
• Manages external vendors and partners with Manufacturing on new technologies and processes.
• Collaborates with hospital staff, consultants, and field representatives to identify unmet needs and develop solutions.
• Communicates with internal and external stakeholders, including executives and sales partners.
• Develops complex test methods and approves test protocols/reports and ECRs when delegated.
• Standardizes testing/design processes and builds internal testing capabilities.
• Participates in technical review boards and industry standards activities.
• Acts as Packaging Engineering liaison to Business Units and supports KPIs.
