Job summary

Doist seeks a Packaging Engineer to drive packaging systems from concept through launch at our Fremont, CA site. You will lead protective packaging, materials selection, CAD-driven design, and qualification testing for domestic and international shipments.

This contract role requires strong GD&T, tolerance analysis, knowledge of machining and molding, and willingness to travel up to 30%. Collaborative, detail-focused candidates with a passion for sustainable packaging will thrive.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Packaging, Industrial Design, or equivalent.
• Strong CAD and technical drawing skills (GD&T, tolerance stack‑up analysis).
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, welding, injection molding).
• Knowledge of materials (aluminum, steel, composites, foam).
• Experience designing to standards (ASTM, Mil‑Spec).
• Strong understanding of packaging testing and validation.

Responsibilities

• Lead packaging projects from concept to implementation.
• Develop protective packaging containers, dunnage, and shipping racks (domestic & international).
• Apply CAD and technical design methods (datum structure, GD&T, tolerance analysis).
• Monitor KPIs and drive packaging standards and improvements.
• Manage expendable to returnable packaging projects and sustainability initiatives.
• Oversee project budgets, risks, and vendor management.
